I made it to Amsterdam today! Little ice in Iceland but otherwise the flight went very well. Going from Chicago to Iceland we were able to see the northern lights, plus I had a window seat! Except my window was facing south... But that's okay, because just like the proverbial sour grapes* the lights weren't all that impressive. I got a window seat for all 3 of my flights and on one I got moved for "weight and balance purposes." Maybe I've finally gained some weight!
Antony was waiting for me at the airport and we took a very long car ride from Amsterdam to Amstelveen. We then went on a bike tour of Amstelveen and the magnificent forest Antony has said so much about. I will agree it is bigger than any groves we have in Iowa. In the forest is a little interactive goat farm which was pretty cool. And those rubber teat cups in our milkers? They get repurposed as dog toys in Holland.
I haven't figured out how to get pictures from my phone onto here so those will be coming later. Forewarning: I have no photography skills not was I blessed with a silver tongue- or silver keyboard for that matter. Bear with me as this whole blog thing just might be a total disaster
